Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari spoke to the press ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match against CSKA Moscow. His team has secured the first spot in the ongoing Group Stage and that’s why Solari could decide to make some rotations in this match.
“We go in to every match trying to respect our history and the competition. There are teams that are playing for things and we go in to every game looking to win. We must keep the momentum going in every competition and we must remain competitive,” said Solari when asked about this matter, possibly suggesting that he won’t rest all of his starters.
Marcelo is still not available and it seems that even though he should be ready to play, the club is taking a cautious approach.
“I’d like to be able to count on him soon. The most important thing is that when he returns, he’s right, and we don’t lose him again. It’s what the coaches, the doctors and the fans want. It’s not of any help to us to play a game and then not be able to play the next,” explained Solari.
Brazilian wonder kid Vinicius Jr could feature in the starting lineup in this game, as he’s showed promise and potential every time he’s been given the chance to play.
“I can’t tell you if he’ll start, but he has exceeded expectations. He’s very young and has the future ahead of him. He has already made his debut in all competitions and these last few months have passed very fast for him. We’re all very happy with him,” said the coach.
Los Blancos will face Rayo Vallecano in the Bernabeu next weekend in what should also be a manageable game for them, so Solari will be happy about facing these smaller teams ahead of an intense FIFA Club World Cup.
