It’s clear that Los Blancos should be considered the favorites to come out of this tie. Solari’s men have not been playing well lately but they always seem to improve in the European competition, where they are at their best.
It will be extremely tough for Real Madrid to conquer their fourth straight Champions League title. It seems that last season’s La Decimotercera was already a miracle considering how badly Zidane’s men were performing in La Liga, but it’s also true that not a single team in Europe seems unbeatable at the moment, with Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City and PSG quite possibly being the main candidates to win the trophy this year.
Still, Madrid need to do their homework in this Round of 16. The return leg will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu and hopefully Los Blancos can gain some confidence ahead of this tie —while also picking up a FIFA Club World Cup title in the process—.
