Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio did not train with the rest of the squad this Thursday and his status for Saturday’s FIFA Club World Cup Final right now is ‘doubtful’. Asensio was forced to leave the Semifinals against Kashima Antlers with a muscle injury just five minutes after entering the game.
Either way, Asensio’s injury isn’t very serious and will be able to help the squad in the second half of the season. Real Madrid should be considered the heavy favorites to beat Al Ain on Saturday and that’s why it would not make sense for Solari to rush him back and increase the risk of another injury in what might be a manageable game for Los Blancos.
Real Madrid will face Al Ain in the Final and won’t play again until January 3rd, when they will visit Villarreal in what’s expected to be a tough away game for Santiago Solari’s men.
