France Football’s 2018 Ballon D’Or ceremony will take place today and Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is expected to win the award and end Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s dominance.

It’s been leaked that the Croatian midfielder is going to become the new Ballon D’Or after also winning FIFA’s The Best and UEFA’s Best Player of the Year award.

Modric was a key player in Real Madrid’s third straight Champions League title and more importantly he shockingly carried Croatia to the 2018 FIFA Wold Cup Final. Modric is now completing what has been an incredible season for him and this award comes at the right time. It’s true that his form was very poor at the start of the 2018-19 season, but he’s improved quite a lot since then and has been performing well for Madrid since then.

Modric is arguably one of the best midfielders of the 21st century and this award proves that he should also be considered one of the finest players of his generation.
