Real Madrid are interested in the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper Karlo Letica, who is currently defending Hadjuk Split’s goal, according to a report published on MARCA last Saturday.
Even Letica’s agent Sinisa Soso has shared his thoughts on this reported interest.
“Have I spoken to Real Madrid? I can only say that many European clubs have called us,” revealed Soso. ”We are only in March and there are two months until the end of the season,” he added. ”He is in no hurry, he’s playing with Hajduk week in a week out and that’s important right now,” he concluded.
Real Madrid will almost certainly need to sign a young goalkeeper sooner rather than later, considering that Keylor Navas is already 31 years old and that Kiko Casilla cannot be trusted if Navas gets injured. While Letica appears to have the potential to grow into a solid goalkeeper, Los Blancos should probably set their focus on elite goalkeepers such as David De Gea, Thibaut Courtois or Gigi Donnarumma if they want a long-term answer for the goalkeeper spot, given that nobody knows whether Letica will be ready to replace Navas any time soon.
