Marco Asensio is for real, or at least that’s what Bayern Munich’s Javi Martinez has said about his countryman.
“Asensio is the best young talent in European football, in my opinion,” said Martinez. “It’s amazing to watch but most importantly he always delivers and performs well in big games. We’ve seen him this year but he will become one of the world’s greatest players next year, perhaps even the best. It’s up to him really,” added the midfielder.
Martinez saw what Asensio was capable of during the 2017 Champions League Quarterfinals, where he delivered a key assist in Germany and scored a magnificent goal in the return leg.
Fans and players in Spain are excited about Asensio and what he will bring to the table during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Only an injury could keep the young player out of the final list and maybe coach Julen Lopetegui is thinking about giving him a role as a starter if Asensio keeps performing for Real Madrid during the last few months of the season.
