Its was a rehearsal night for the Real Madrid players as everything now is centered on retaining the top European trophy. Of course they have the first-leg advantage against PSG and set to go the French capital this midweek to complete the job.
Zinedine Zidane has been resting his players and utilizing the minutes and giving out chances to fringe players to get an opportunity. Still, he put out a strong squad, with a very noticeable experimental midfield.
Gareth Bale opened the scoring for Los Blancos and Cristiano Ronaldo bagged another brace en-route to a 3-1 victory over Getafe.
Keylor Navos, 7.5
Unfortunate on not keeping a clean sheet due to a wrong penalty decision by the referee. He was always up to the challenge whenever called upon. Did well on keeping out Loic Remy’s strike in the first half.
Dani Carvajal, 8
It seems that the marauding full-back is back at his usual best. He was up and down the flanks terrorizing the right side of the field almost the whole 90 minutes. Very encouraging performance for our best right back in recent years.
Sergio Ramos, 8
He was able to keep the ball alive so intelligently and instead of doing something spectacular towards goal, he stops and spoke the play, cycles it and finds Marcelo who sets up Ronaldo for the third goal of the match. Another fine performance for El Capitan.
He was on the receiving end of Loic Remy's clothesline in which the Frenchman saw red after. Later on, he was unfortunate in conceding the penalty which resulted into Getafe's only goal of the match. It was a great tackle as he got the ball first, but the angle on the referee's view saw it as a foul. Still, a good match for our ever-reliable defender.
Another start for the young Frenchman as he is making most of his opportunity while Marcelo is on the sideline. He has been improving in each of the match that he has featured this year.
Marcos Llorente, 7.5
He was given by Zidane his 4th start in this La Liga campaign as an anchorman alongside Casemiro. This is the only match that I can say that young Marcos did pretty well —— winning the balls in the middle of the pitch and moving possession neatly.
He was afforded more freedom to go forward this time around as Llorente played along side him. But he will be back in his commanding position this coming Tuesday in Paris.
He did improve his game tonight compared to his last outing at Espanyol. Very lively in the attack and always involved, Could have obtained an assist if his vital pass was not miscontrolled by Benzema.
Gareth Bale, 8
He put Real Madrid ahead with a clinical finished. He has been coming up with important goals at the right time and rest his case of starting against PSG this coming Tuesday night. He was very active all through-out the night and unlucky to hit the far-post on the dying minutes of the match.
Cristiano Ronaldo, 8.5
CR7 has been unstoppable in front of goal since the start of the year. His first goal of the night showcased his composure and shooting accuracy while his second goal reminded us all of his lethal aerial ability to score with his head with a bullet header. Unlucky to have a goal disallowed due to offside, even though he was played onside by Getafe's Djene. He has now scored 30+ goals in all competitions for 9th straight year, what a consistency!
Karim Benzema, 7.5
Another fine outing for the Frenchman, he started the first goal — lobbing it to the far-post with both Isco and Ramos up for the challenge before the ball dropped kindly to Bale. His mutuality with Ronaldo was on show again as he assisted the Portuguese for the second goal of the night and was a constant threat to the visiting team.
He was rested from the start and entered halfway to second half. His entrance immediately lit up Real Madrid, his fabulous cross to Ronaldo ended at the back of the net — that's the quality the team gets from the left side of the pitch every time he plays. Perfect warm-up for the Brazilian for the important midweek clash.
Marco Asensio, 6.5
He did well on his 10 minute run on the pitch, delivering diagonal passes and through balls within Getafe’s penalty box.
Mateo Kovacic, 6.5
A good 10 minute run-out for the Croatian as he might be on to his biggest match of his career in Paris in mid-week.
Zinedine Zidane, 7
He left out Dani Ceballos on the squad which could have been another good opportunity for the player to gain match fitness. Also, didnt played Lucas Vasquez, but maybe he is preserving him for the midweek clash against PSG. And good to start Theo instead of Marcelo for this match, as we don’t want to risk further more injuries to our key players since Modric and Kroos is likely not to feature in the match in Paris.
