Real Madrid’s second captain Marcelo had some interesting words to say about Wednesday’s scare against Juventus, where the team needed a last-minute goal off a penalty-kick to advance to the Semifinals.

“If I have to be honest, of course I had what happened to Barcelona in my mind. But what happened to them wasn’t going to happen to us because we’re Real Madrid and we fought until the very end,” said the defender.

“I’ve been taught to believe until the end and it’s not easy to play with such ambition when they are strong counterattacking,” he added.

“It’s an obvious penalty,” said Marcelo about Michael Oliver’s decisive call.

The truth is that Marcelo completed a mediocre game and will need to improve if Los Blancos want to compete for the title. Marcelo is crucial to the team’s success and he surely knows he has to play better. Luckily enough for him and the fans, the Brazilian defender will have a chance to redeem himself very soon.
