Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal rejoined the squad in training this Saturday and should be ready to face Malaga on Sunday —20:45 CET—, even though coach Zinedine Zidane could decide to give them some rest so that they can be ready for the opening leg of the Champions League Quarterfinals against Bayern.
Modric had some physical issues during Wednesday’s match against Juventus and even had to leave the field of play. A collision with midfielder Blaise Matuidi clearly hurt him, that being the reason why he was bothered with that small injury throughout the rest of the game.
Reports suggest that Zidane will indeed keep him on the bench when Real visit Malaga this Sunday. If that’s what happens, Mateo Kovacic could start in the midfield given that right now he is right behind Modric in the depth chart. Madrid have nothing to play for in La Liga so Zidane will surely try to keep his players fresh.
