Real Madrid will face Bayern Munich without key midfielder Arturo Vidal, the German club confirmed. Vidal had surgery on his knee this Tuesday and Bayern published a statement revealing that the midfielder will be out for the rest of the season.
Arturo Vidal underwent knee surgery by Dr Ulrich Boenisch in Augsburg on Monday. The loose body that had been diagnosed beforehand was removed. The attachment of the rear lateral meniscus which was damaged by the loose body was repaired. The season is over for Arturo Vidal.

Vidal’s presence in Bayern’s midfield was huge and he was also extremely motivated for the upcoming tie against Real Madrid, so it won’t be easy for coach Jupp Heynckes to overcome Vidal’s injury.
“It’s a problem for Bayern because he’s an important player. We’re upset that he’s injured, but nothing changes. They’re a team with a very good squad and great players that can fill in,” said Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane during Tuesday’s press conference.
