It's kind of a strange feeling going into La Liga matches in this part of the campaign without any sort of purpose — as the white flag has been thrown already, surrendering our crown without any contest.
This strange feeling will continue for the remainder of the La Liga campaign as Real Madrid are already assured of a Champions League spot next season and not much to fight for.
The main talking point before the match was that of Gareth Bale, sitting again on the bench and seems to not have any room in Zidane's starting XI.
Athletic Bilbao's Iñaki Williams opened the scoring for the visitor with a delightful chipped over Keylor Navas that gave Athletic the lead only for Cristiano Ronaldo to ruin the party as he exquisitely deflect Luka Modric's shot into the back of the net late in the match to earn Real Madrid a draw.

Player Ratings:
Keylor Navas, 5
Did not really have much to do as his defence was solid, but was left helpless and well-beaten for Inaki William's goal.
Dani Carvajal, 6
He was good at the back as well, working hard and had an excellent blocked that relieved his side from going two-goals behind. Also played a handful of crosses from the right side of the field.
Sergio Ramos, 6
El Capitan was again solid at the back for the most part but could have done better to stop William's run for the opening goal.
Raphael Varane, 6
Another composed performance at the back for Rafa and showed an improved performance from his last outings.
Marcelo, 5
Very advanced in the field as usual as he was able to test Kepa with a powerful shot and found Ramos with a good cross but found it hard keeping-up in defense against Inaki Williams and Oscar.
Toni Kroos, 6
He directed play with his safe and fine passing and delivered some good set pieces too but was not really able to control the match as he would have wanted.
Luka Modric, 5
Not really commanded the midfield and control the game by his usual standard, or maybe he was just saving his best for the Champions League. His shot at the end resulted to a Ronaldo flick that earn his side a draw.
Lucas Vasquez, 6
A tale of two halves for Lucas as he was very lively during the first half creating opportunities but faded and muted as the match progresses.
Marco Asensio, 7
He kept trying on finding himself a goal but left disappointed especially after a superb dribble in the first half that could have resulted in the back of the net. He is one of the bright spots for Real Madrid showing his creativeness during the match.
Karim Benzema, 4
His goal-drought continues and was not able to replicate his ingenious performance against Malaga.
Cristiano Ronaldo, 7
Always a constant threat but a bit lower than his standards. Unfortunate to struck the crossbar with a beautiful header early in the match. But still he had the last say in the draw with a sublime back-heel goal.
Substitutions:
Isco, 6
Replaced Asensio and ss soon as he enters the field he added some spark and was lively.
Bale, 4
Replace Benzema but couldn't make an impact coming from the bench.
