Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer won’t be available when Real Madrid visit Germany next Wednesday. Neuer is still recovering from the surgery he had last December and while he is training little by little, next Wednesday will be too early for him to play. However, Neuer could be back for the return leg, which will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu just a week after the match in Germany.
Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes said that the club is “very happy with the progress Neuer has made lately.” Svein Ulreich has been Neuer’s replacement this season and will be defending Bayern’s goal against Real Madrid’s attackers.
Manuel Neuer is a formidable goalkeeper whose absence will undoubtedly hurt Bayern’s chances. If he is finally able to make his return in time for the return leg, the odds for the German side will be increased as he is one of the world’s greatest keepers.
