Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane spoke ahead of Bayern Munich’s visit to the Santiago Bernabeu in the return leg of the Champions League Semifinals —Tuesday, 20:45 CET—. Zidane revealed that both Nacho and Isco should be ready to play, although he said that the coaching staff won’t take any risks with them.
“Both Nacho and Isco trained with us for the last couple of days and we now have some time before we have to make a decision about them. We will see, but the important thing for us is to be 100% ready,” said Zidane.
“Nacho has been out for the last month but he’s trained a lot, he’s ready. They are physically ready. If they make it to the bench that means that they are ready to play. I don’t have to say anything to Isco about his recovery, he knows what he has to do, we all want to play these games. If he has some pain we will do everything so that he can actually play but we won’t take any risks. His health is more important,” he added.
All things considered, it looks like Nacho will be able to play in the right-back position. Carvajal is injured and Lucas Vazquez could also play there if Nacho isn’t ready to start.
“I’m not going to reveal my decision. Each and every player is motivated and ready to do what it takes,” said Zidane.
He also talked about the importance of this game.
“In the end this is a Semifinal. We know how important this game is, we know what we have to do and we don’t have to change anything. Our focus and determination in what we want to do is key. We played very well in the first leg and we will have to prove that we want to advance to the next round,” concluded Zidane.
