Real Madrid proved that they deserve to be considered one of the main candidates to win this 2017-18 edition of the UEFA Champions League by dominating Juventus en route to a 0-3 win which all bu confirms their presence in the Semifinals. Here are three takeaways from the game.

  1. Isco is back in the rotation and deservedly so. Coach Zinedine Zidane showed Isco that he still trusts him and the midfielder made the best out of that opportunity. Isco assisted Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid’s opening goal and completed a very solid performance even Juventus tried to score the equalizer and controlled the possession of the ball. His performance could very well make him a starter for the first leg of the Semifinals.
  2. Kroos’ performance deserved a goal. The German midfielder was Real Madrid’s best player not named Cristiano Ronaldo. He controlled the tempo and flow of the game, didn’t commit any silly turnovers and showed that he is back after a tough first half of the season. As Martin Connolly wrote on his Player Ratings, it’s a relief to have such a calm midfielder when you’re playing in the toughest stadiums in European football. No matter how much credit he actually gets, I have a feeling that the history books won’t reflect how brilliant of a midfielder he is.
  3. What can you say about Cristiano Ronaldo? The praise he got from the crowd at the Juventus Stadium sums it all up. We are all witnesses.
