Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo did not complete Monday’s training session with his teammates and appears to be questionable for Wednesday’s crucial clash against Juventus in the return leg of the Champions League Quarterfinals.
Vallejo would be an undisputed starter if healthy given that both Ramos —suspended— and Nacho —injury— will miss the game, so missing this opportunity to prove himself in such a big stage could be devastating for the young player, who has been solid when given the chance to play.
Still, it’s more than clear that Vallejo just can’t stay healthy. He is one of those players, like Varane or Bale, who just can’t play two games a week for a long period of time. It’s not their fault, but Vallejo’s issues will be very problematic for his development if he can’t play as often as he needs.
If Vallejo can’t go, Casemiro or Marcos Llorente will play alongside Varane next Wednesday.
