Real Madrid will host Celta Vigo this Saturday and they’ll do so without Cristiano Ronaldo and Carvajal, who missed Friday’s training session as they try to recover in time for the upcoming Champions League Final against Liverpool.
It’s clear that coach Zinedine Zidane will not take any risks with these two players but it looks like he won’t rotate the squad much against Celta. Zidane gave most key starters some rest when Madrid visited Sevilla on Wednesday and now they will be expected to be back on the pitch in order to gain some confidence and improve their form ahead of the crucial match against Liverpool.
Celta have nothing to play for in La Liga anymore, just like Madrid, so Saturday’s game should be fairly meaningless for both sides. As always, Zidane will surely want to keep his players fresh but he also needs to find them minutes so that they can gain confidence.
