Luis Rubiales has become the permanent president of the Spanish Football Federation, replacing Angel Maria Villar. Real Madrid published a statement congratulating Rubiales.
I’d like to congratulate Luis Rubiales on his election as president of the Spanish Football Federation.
It’s the start of a new era in which we must all work together to ensure the organisation of our sport is ever more modern, efficient, professional and transparent.
As Real Madrid president I wish him every success, which I’m certain he will have, and I’d like to reaffirm our commitment and collaboration in ensuring the present and future of our sport continue to improve.
Florentino Pérez.

Rubiales was the president of the Players’ Union before being elected. His term will run until 2020 and there will be a new election then. The Spanish Football Federation didn’t have a permanent president since the scandal surrounding Angel Maria Villar was revealed to the public.
