Real Madrid Basketball beat CSKA in the Euroleague Semifinals and will face Fenerbahce for the title this Sunday.
Los Blancos got 16 points from soon-to-be Euroleague MVP Luka Doncic and Sergio Llull and managed to contain both Nando De Colo and Sergio Rodriguez to obtain a convincing 83-92 win in Belgrade.
CSKA obtained a 10-point lead after the first quarter but a brilliant run in the second thanks to Trey Thompkins, Jaycee Carroll and Sergio Llull put Madrid ahead at halftime. Pablo Laso’s players then worked very hard defensively and proved that this team will be a contender even after a very tough start to their season.
Doncic was not as effective as some NBA scouts would’ve liked going 4-12 from the field but showing that his attacking mentality cannot be denied. Still, the team played better with Llull as the floor general, so it will be interesting to see what kind of role Doncic is given in the NBA.
Real Madrid will have a chance to win their 10th European title against the reigning champions Fenerbahce, who will surely be extremely tough to beat. However, it seems that bookies are considering Madrid the favorites to win the title, even if by a small margin.
