Liverpool held their Open Media Day ahead of Saturday’s Champions League Final against Real Madrid and defender Dejan Lovren spoke about how his team can stop Cristiano Ronaldo.
“If we want to stop Ronaldo we have to do it by playing together. At some point in time he will be one on one and that will be tough, but I’m ready for that challenge, I’ve worked very hard to get here and I’m ready for everything,” said Lovren.
“You just have to respect players like Ronaldo, Salah or Messi. Ronaldo has been playing games like this one for 12 or 15 years, he scores more than 30 goals every single season even in a bad one. But we play in the Premier League against the world’s best attackers and we know how to defend as a team,” he added.
Lovren also said that he texted Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic ahead of the Semifinals draw.
“We spoke ahead of the Semifinals and I told them that I wanted to meet them in Kiev. They answered that they were ready and now we’ll be playing against a team who reached the Final for three consecutive years, they know how to play this game but we’re chasing a dream as well. We know what’s at stake and we will enjoy it. Hopefully we will win the title,” explained Lovren.
