Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio revealed in an interview with ESRadio that coach Zinedine Zidane has not told his roster who will start against Liverpool in Kiev.
“Right now we’re focusing on doing our very best on every training session. We don’t know who will start yet, we will see. We have some training sessions ahead of us still,” said Asensio.
“We usually know the starting lineup two hours before the game but some players are told before then. It wouldn’t be disappointing to miss the starting lineup, although it’s clear that I always want to play and I will be ready. Of course I’d like to start, but this is a Final and whoever starts will surely play well because we’re in good form,” added the Spanish player.
Asensio didn’t start against Villarreal last Saturday and it looks like he could come off the bench against Liverpool too.
“I was looking forward to facing Villarreal but the coach didn’t tell me anything about it, so we will see what happens on Saturday,” said Asensio when asked about whether his absence on Saturday could grant him a spot against Liverpool or not.
Finally, Asensio delivered some interesting quotes when he was asked about the rumors suggesting Neymar will sign for Madrid.
“Neymar has always proved himself as one of the greatest. He’s a player I like and we all like him. I’d get along with him on the pitch, I have a knack for getting along with my teammates,” concluded Asensio.
