Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino talked to the press in Barcelona as he was presenting his new book to the journalists. What would have been a regular press conference two days ago ended up dealing only with the rumors suggesting that Real Madrid have him as their primary target for the coaching job Zidane left vacant on Thursday. Pochettino said he’s happy with Tottenham but refused to rule out his potential move to the Spanish capital.
“I’m very happy in my current club. I enjoy it every day, I’m happy but you never know what’s going to happen. I live day by day because you just never know what will happen tomorrow. I’m excited about the project in Tottenham and I’m focused in the present,” said Pochettino.
“Real Madrid generate huge expectations and rumors but I understand it, it doesn’t affect me,” he added.
The truth is that while Pochettino insisted many times on how happy he is in the London-based club, he wasn’t as assertive as Joachim Low. The German coach was also rumored to be on Real’s radar but denied those claims.
“I rule that out 100%,” said Low.
All in all, it seems that Pochettino is trying to stay loyal to his current club while also not hurting his chances if Madrid decide to go after him.
