Real Madrid ruled out the possibility of signing Mauricio Pochettino as their coach for next season, according to a report from COPE. Tottenham did not include a release clause on Pochettino’s contract and Madrid simply do not want to negotiate with president Daniel Levy knowing that it could take months.
Pochettino appeared to be the main candidate for the Madrid job after Zinedine Zidane decided to leave the club last Thursday. However, Los Blancos will now have to focus all their efforts on alternatives like Jurgen Klopp, Guti, Antonio Conte or Massimiliano Allegri.
Madrid will try to sign their next coach soon enough, according to that report from COPE, so that their new manager can start building the squad for next season. That’s mainly why Pochettino might not be the answer for the club right now, as he would need time to think about the roster and Levy simply wouldn’t let him join Madrid all that easily.
