Lopetegui “the perfect coach for Real Madrid,” says Carvajal

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal spoke his mind about Julen Lopetegui, who will coach the club for the next three seasons after Zidane’s surprising departure.

“Julen is the best coach Madrid could’ve picked, I’m happy because I know he trusts me. He is the perfect coach for Real Madrid,” said Carvajal.

Lopetegui included Carvajal in Spain’s squad list for the 2018 FIFA World Cup even though the defender picked up a hamstring injury during the Champions League Final against Liverpool, so Carvajal is right when he says Lopetegui trusts him.

Carvajal will be expected to be the starter in the right side of the defensive line but will have some competition for that spot if Madrid end up signing the promising Alvaro Odriozola away from Real Sociedad as most rumors suggest. Odriozola is a promising player who could have an impact on Madrid’s squad soon enough but will also have time to learn from Carvajal.
