Dejan Lovren says Luka Modric deserves more credit

Modric’s national team teammate, Dejan Lovren, says Modric should be in Balon D’or contention.

“It is a real pleasure to play with Luka Modric, who is one of the best players in the world right now,” Lovren said Sunday morning.

”Modric would probably be getting more attention than he is right now if he was a German or Spanish player. He would maybe even be a Ballon d’Or winner.

”Because we are a smaller country, he does get less attention than he deserves.

”All football lovers know Modric is an incredible player. He is one of the best in the world right now.”

Vedran Corluka says the Modric - Rakitic pairing are the best in the World Cup

“They are playing in the biggest clubs and I think these are their best performances for Croatia during a major tournament,” said Corluka.

”Maybe I am a bit biased because I am Croatian but, yes, I think they are the best midfield pairing at this tournament. I hope they will continue the same way and lead us as far as possible.”
