Real Madrid decided not to sign Mauricio Pochettino away from Tottenham, according to a report from Cadena COPE published this Saturday. They made that call after Tottenham president Daniel Levy told Los Blancos that he would not let Pochettino leave the club for less than €50 million.

That price would be extremely high for a coach, even if Pochettino signed a new deal with Tottenham just weeks ago. It’s clear that no release clause was included and consensus between Madrid and Tottenham would be needed if the Argentinian coach is to leave the London-based club.

It now seems that Madrid will have to look elsewhere to find their replacement for Zinedine Zidane. The new coach will have to make some decisions about the roster fairly soon, especially with the World Cup looming, so Real Madrid can’t wait much longer before announcing who will be in charge of the reigning European champions.
