Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane talked about Zinedine Zidane’s surprising departure from the club right head of the 2018 FIFA World Cup which will be played in Russia.
“In football, sometimes might be hard to accept but it’s true that a small change can be good for everyone, even if you actually don’t feel like you need it. We will see if he was right, maybe our performances in La Liga last season proved that he was right. If he said so, it’s because he saw and felt things. He’s very sensitive towards the attitude and the feelings of his players, so if that’s what he said I think there’s some truth behind it,” said Varane.
“We were told right before his press conference because he texted every player. We were obviously a bit surprised, it was sad. But if he made that decision, he weighed the pros and cons. What he achieved is just unbelievable,” added Varane.
Varane will be an undisputed starter for France in the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup. The defender completed a brilliant season for Real Madrid and it’s clear that he will stay in the Spanish capital for a very long time.
