Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac revealed that Colombian playmaker James Rodriguez won’t return to Real Madrid this summer.

“We have a loan deal which is 100% valid. It will only end if we want to. He’s going to stay here,” said Kovac during a press conference.

James Rodriguez was reportedly keen on making a return to the Spanish capital after the departure of coach Zinedine Zidane. Even James’ father admitted that new coach Julen Lopetegui would be perfect for James’ style of play, also saying that it would be good for James to play for Madrid next season.

However, as Kovac points out, Real Madrid accepted a two-year loan deal with Bayern and the German side will even have an option to make said deal a permanent one in the summer of 2019, so Madrid will have to negotiate with Bayern if they want to have James on their roster again.
