Icardi reportedly on Real Madrid’s list to upgrade the offensive line

Real Madrid are targeting attacker Mauro Icardi, who has a €110 million release clause on his contract with Inter Milan, according to a report from MARCA. Los Blancos also wanted to sign Icardi during the past winter but Madrid ended up deciding not to spend that much money on the winter market.

Los Blancos now need to add a pure goalscorer to their roster. Cristiano Ronaldo will not wear Madrid’s shirt next season and that means that Florentino Perez needs to sign an attacker if they want to compete for all three titles under new coach Julen Lopetegui.

Icardi is still 25 years old and has room for improvement. However, it’s not clear if he has the quality to take Real Madrid to the next level now that they don’t have Cristiano Ronaldo. He would be a good option to upgrade the squad at a decent price, considering that other players like Harry Kane would be much more expensive.
