In an interview on “The Suso’s Show” on Caracol T.V., James Rodríguez confirmed that he would be staying at Bayern Munich this season. Such an announcement should come as a surprise to no one, as the Colombian midfielder has only completed the first of his two-year loan deal with the German super club. Due to this arrangement, Bayern Munich currently hold all the cards in regards to James’ future and Niko Kovac seems determined to keep the playmaker after an impressive 2017/18 season.

James himself has looked content with his situation in Germany all season, though he did reminisce about the good times at Madrid in his interview:

James recalled that “Real Madrid has been the club where I scored the most goals”. ”32 in Porto and 36 in Madrid.

When asked where he had won the more important titles, the Colombian did not hesitate: “Real Madrid,” he replied. “No wonder, since in the white kit I have won, among other trophies, two Champions Leagues.”

While the expected news that James will not return will still disappoint many fans, the wealth of similar talents already at Real and the possibility of a future reunion (after the loan deal ends) should assuage any feelings of discontent.
