Real Madrid Castilla sign Jorge De Frutos

Real Madrid have signed 21-year-old Spaniard Jorge De Frutos from Rayo Majadahonda. The winger will join up with Castilla for the 2018/19 season. De Frutos proved to be a big player for Majadahonda last year, as they comfortably won group 1 (Castilla’s group), before earning promotion and making it all the way to the final hurdle, only to narrowly fall to eventual league champions Mallorca. Jorge played all but four games during that time, scoring nine goals in the process. He becomes Castilla’s first official signing of the summer, with Brazailian prodigy Rodrigo Antonio Rodrigues set to spend pre-season with the squad in an attempt to also earn a place for next season.

Talk of Jorge putting pen to paper has been loud throughout the summer, with the player announcing his imminent departure from Rayo in June. As of today, he has officially announced his destination on social media, stating:

“After 2 years in the first team of Ray Majadahonda, it's time to say goodbye and I can only say thank you for so many good and unrepeatable moments. I am very proud to have belonged to this club and shared a dressing room with such great people. Thank you to both the coaching staff and the directors who have trusted me during these two years, and of course the fans who have always treated me so well, thank you for your encouragement in each game.

I will never forget all we have achieved, the two play-offs for promotion to LaLiga 2, to be a champion of Segunda B Group 1 and get a historic promotion for the club.

A new stage begins at Real Madrid Castilla and I hope everything goes as well as it has done so far. Hasta siempre mi Rayo.”

Rumour has it that Jorge is the latest player that Real Madrid have beaten Barcelona in a supposed transfer war, but in reality – Castilla have brought in a Segunda Division B experienced young player whom can add goals and assists to a team that often struggles to be clinical in these areas. Although the allure of Real Madrid can be too strong for many, Jorge must believe he can come in and make a difference to progress his career considerably, or else staying with his historic Rayo Majadahonda side in their LaLiga 2 adventure would have been logical. Make sure to give Jorge a warm welcome. I for one am excited to see how he gets on.
