Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui appears to be ready for the season to begin even if Los Blancos decide not to sign a quality attacker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

“As a coach, it is an exciting challenge to make a competitive team without Cristiano,” said Lopetegui when asked about the departure of the Portuguese star. “I have recognition for one of the most important players in Real Madrid’s history, the club acknowledged his legacy by facilitating his departure,” added the coach.

Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema will need to improve their numbers if Madrid want to replace Ronaldo successfully. Lopetegui believes this is a job they can take care of.

“We are sure that Bale is going to have a great year and we expect a lot from him. We will work together so that he can reach his top form. We are delighted with the squad we have and we are convinced that we will compete for all our goals, and it cannot be any other way at Real Madrid,” he explained.

“If a player doesn’t come or go, I will be a happy coach. We are not going to talk about rumors. With the squad we have, we will be able to face the demands of the club,” said when asked again about signings.
