Real Madrid right-back Achraf Hakimi will leave the club on a two-year loan deal to Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to a report from MARCA. Madrid are about to complete the signing of Alvaro Odriozola and Achraf wouldn’t have room in the rotation, so a loan deal makes sense for him given that he lacks the experience to be a relevant player for Madrid right now.
Achraf was Carvajal’s backup this past season but he wasn’t reliable enough to grant himself that same role once again. He showed some promise and has the potential to be a quality player in the future, but he needs to play in order to develop as a player and that’s something he will not find in the Spanish capital.
It could be tough for him to play in Dortmund as well, so Achraf will need to compete for a spot in the starting lineup. This experience could be extremely valuable for him, similar to what happened to Dani Carvajal when he joined Bayer Leverkusen to prove himself as a brilliant defender five years ago.
