Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric advanced to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Semifinals with the Croatian national team. Modric was visibly happy after the match against Russia and shared his thoughts on the reports saying that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Real Madrid to join Juventus this summer.

“We’ll see what happens,” said Modric when first asked about it. “I don’t think he will leave and I’d like for him to stay because he’s the world’s best player. He means a lot to us and I hope he stays,” he added.

“I believe he will stay, that’s my opinion. It’d be great if that happened because I can’t imagine him playing for another team in Europe,” concluded Ronaldo’s teammate.

Can Real Madrid stop Ronaldo’s departure? Several reports say that it’s only a matter of hours before he officially becomes a Juventus player, but Modric thinks otherwise and he might even have some inside information on the matter.
