Napoli will offer €40 million to sign Benzema

New Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti is planning to send a €40 million offer to sign Karim Benzema away from Real Madrid, according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport. Benzema would accept to lower his current wages and his deal with Napoli would expire in 2021, per that same report.

It’s not clear whether Madrid will accept to sell the player or not, although if Cristiano Ronaldo ends up leaving the club this summer as it’s being reported, Los Blancos would probably need a pure scorer to replace the Portuguese star and that’s not Benzema’s game.

However, €40 million seems a weak offer for a player of Benzema’s caliber. Napoli will probably be required to spend a little more if they want to sign the French attacker. They’d also be desperate to improve their squad if they want to keep competing with Juventus, even more so if Juve end up signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
