Real legend Ronaldo in hospital with pneumonia
Former Real Madrid striker and current club ambassador Ronaldo Nazario was reportedly admitted to ICU Friday night with pneumonia.
Ronaldo was on vacation with his family in Ibiza when he fell ill and was taken to the nearest hospital. He is reportedly recovering well and is now reportedly expecting to be out on Monday.
It’s never good news to hear that someone is seriously ill, even worse when it’s someone so close in relationship to the club and its fanbase. We of course wish Ronaldo the speediest and fullest recovery.
Hazard rumors back yet again—this time for £200 million
According to the Sunday Express, Real are willing to match Chelsea’s huge price tag of £200 million (around €223 million) for Eden Hazard. It would be Real’s next Galactico signing and their biggest before this summer window closes.
So, how reliable is this new report? Not very. The Express is a tabloid and far from a Tier 1 source for transfer news. Take this absolutely with a grain of salt. It’s another rumor regarding Hazard to Madrid that is making the rounds and being shared by the likes of ESPN and Bleacher Report.
Courtois now being here and having said he’d love for Hazard to join him, whether or not that has any real pull will remain to be seen for now. Chelsea doesn’t even have to accept the offer, no matter how ludicrous £200 million is.
While it’s unlikely to happen, at least in this window, it’s always entertaining to see various outlets throw the same darts at the board and hope they hit bullseye eventually.
Ødegaard may be set for English Championship loan
According to the Mirror, Martin Ødegaard may be loaned out to the Championship this season. Reportedly both Derby County and Aston Villa are interested in signing the 19-year-old on a season-long loan. Previous reports have had Ødegaard moving to another Liga club for the season.
Regardless of where he goes, Ødegaard is likely to be loaned out somewhere for this season. We didn’t see a whole lot of him this preseason and it’s unlikely he’ll be in the first team lineup at all. A loan move probably works best yet again for him this season and hopefully he will finally begin to reach his full potential soon, he’s still very young.
Navas may start in Super Cup against Atlético
According to MARCA, Keylor Navas may yet again get the starting nod in net on Wednesday when Real take on Atlético. As they write in the report, with Courtois not getting much training and not starting against Milan in the Trofeo Bernabéu, it’s unlikely he will be ready still. He has yet to join the team for a match, not even on the bench, since joining earlier this week.
There’s still a week to go before the new season starts, which means Courtois has plenty of time still to settle in with his new club. Navas has looked great in the preseason and it is still really his starting spot to lose.
Whomever Lopetegui chooses to go with in the Super Cup (and throughout the season) is a wise decision, as both are stellar keepers.
