Real Madrid vs Getafe: Match Thread

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: opening day of La Liga for Real Madrid! Los Blancos take on Getafe in the season opener at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Of course, it’s obviously very early goings for this new Zidane-less, Ronaldo-less squad, so we need to continue to be patient regardless of the outcome... but it will be a very good morale boost if Real Madrid can go in and snatch these three points to kick off the season on a positive note.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m excited to get this party started and see how things progress. I’d like to leave you with a little reminder that I had posted on another thread, as we get this season started:

Hello friends and fellow fans:

Things have been a little “messy” here in the last 24 hours, which is to be expected in a way. But I would like to take a minute to remind everyone of the SB Nation Community Guidelines, as well as the equally important Managing Madrid Community Guidelines.

This is a friendly reminder that we are here to have fun and talk football, respectfully, even when heated. A lot of you are great at doing so. We have been pretty lax with profanity here and there (myself included, naturally) but it has gotten a bit wild too, so let’s all try to tone it down.

This is for all of our own good, we don’t want this place turning into a cesspool. We are the classiest bunch of fans, after all :) Thanks everyone!

And so that is it, let’s enjoy the game. Hala Madrid!
