Real Madrid have an agreement in place for Celta de Vigo attacker Iago Aspas in case they can’t complete a deal for Valencia’s Rodrigo Moreno, according to a report from El Chiringuito de Jugones.
Aspas completed a fine season for Celta last year and is a quality striker who could be a decent backup for Karim Benzema. However, this reported agreement involves Real Madrid and the player himself, meaning that Los Blancos would still have to negotiate with Celta Vigo if they want the player.
However, reports from Vigo indicate that Aspas has a €40 million release clause on his deal with Celta, so it would not take a lot of time for Los Blancos to sign the player if that’s actually what they want.
Aspas has succeeded in Vigo but it wasn’t that easy for him when he tried to take a step forward in his career. He also joined Liverpool and then Sevilla shortly after but struggled getting playing time and ended up returning to his hometown, the only place where he’s performed at a very high level.
