According to reports from Sergio Valentin of Libertad Digital and esradio, Real Sociedad is seriously considering moving for Jesus Vallejo on a season-long loan. Real Sociedad’s current center back, Diego Llorente, was seriously injured at the weekend after a fall in the match against Leganes. Llorente, a former Madrid product, may be our for 4-6 months. Thus, Garritano and the Sociedad board are looking to another Madrid player to shore up their defense, Jesus Vallejo. The young center back would join Theo on loan.
Any potential move would leave Madrid short in a position which is already delicate given the suspension rate of Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane’s injury record, and Nacho’s role in covering for four positions. The same reports have suggested that Lopetegui wanted a left footed center back. Former Castilla product, Mario Hermoso of Espanyol, has been linked with a €14 million move back to the Bernabeu. The 23-year-old knows the club as well as the league which, in theory, would mean a shorter timeline in his adaptation.
Any move for a new center back, would hinge on the Vallejo decision. For the former Zaragoza man, this may not be the worst decision if he can put the injuries to rest and play week in and week out for a strong La Liga side. As the final few days of the market near, expect the rumors to multiply in magnitude.
