Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui spoke to the press ahead of the team’s home match against Leganes in La Liga. Lopetegui revealed that Mariano will be the last addition to the squad, confirming that Madrid won’t make any signings on deadline day.

“We’re happy with the players we have. With Mariano’s arrival our roster is now set and done, we won’t sign anyone on deadline day,” said Lopetegui.

The Spanish coach also talked about Modric being named the UEFA Best Player of the Year last night.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” he said when asked about Mendes’ quotes. “I’m happy for Luka, he won it because he deserved it, even though I’m not a big fan of individual awards. But Luka has it all,” explained Lopetegui.

The coach revealed that striker Borja Mayoral could leave the club on a loan deal.

“He’s our player but he has options to leave and it’s likely that he leaves on a loan deal today. He’s done a very good job and I’m sure that he will have minutes if he ends up leaving,” he said.

Once again, Lopetegui was asked about his goalkeepers. Navas just won the UEFA Best Goalkeeper of the Season award, something which won’t make things easy for Lopetegui if he wants to bench him.

“We will see who starts, I have full confidence in my goalkeepers but only one can actually play, which doesn’t mean I don’t trust the other two. We will manage this situation thinking about the team and we are calm and convinced about having good options for that spot. I won’t tell you who the starter is, I have three great options and we will see,” explained the coach.
