Fábio Coentrão’s drawn out relationship with Real Madrid has finally come to an end.

Both parties have agreed to the termination of Coentrão’s contract with Los Blancos. Over the last three years, Fábio has been on loan at Monaco and Sporting, the latter of which he did quite well for. His next journey in the footballing landscape will take him back to his boyhood club Rio Ave, a place where the left back first broke onto the footballing scene and established himself as one of the brightest young prospects in world football.

Despite numerous injuries, he enjoyed a fine career at the top level and will always have a place in the hearts of Madridistas due to his legendary performances against Bayern Munich in the 2014 Champions League semifinals.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that he was an excellent servant of the club and that he deserves all the best in his future endeavors.
