Despite the whirlwind of rumors linking Luka Modric away from Real Madrid, he still made time to visit the injured Cesar Gelabert. The youngster is one of the most talented players in Madrid’s youth system. The 17-year-old plied his trade with Guti’s Juvenil A last season. He has trained with the first team on multiple occasions and has featured for Spain at various youth levels. In June, prior to the youth Copa Del Rey Final, Gelabert suffered a torn cruciate ligament in training. He has been on the sideline for months and continues with his recover daily. The player was obviously devastated not to have the opportunity to go on the US tour with the first team or meet up with his new Castilla teammates due to the injury.
It’s easy to drift into the background as an injured player. Your teammates continue to go along with their day to day and focus on training. Injured players often feel isolated and their confidence plummets. Thus, when one of the greatest players in the history of Real Madrid comes to your home to offer encouragement and support, the motivation and desire reignites—Gelabert must be encouraged.
Gelabert thanked Luka Modric for his kind act with a message on his Instagram “Thank you very much for the support Luka Modric! A magician on the field and a great person outside of it.”
Modric is an example both on and off the pitch. He is first class in every category. The club are adamant that the Croatian will not be going anywhere and hopefully Modric feels that his future continues to lie with Real Madrid.
