Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui talked to the press ahead of the team’s home match against Espanyol and suggested that he will make rotations after the 3-0 win against Roma in the Champions League.
“You just have to get used to our schedule, it’s what happens when you play the Champions League. You have to make the best decisions and we will use our depth now more than ever,” said Lopetegui.
“We will make our decisions game by game and paying attention to how everybody is playing. It’s important to use the whole roster and it makes sense to do so now that we have a busy schedule. We will see who plays tomorrow, we still have to wait,” he added. “Every player will be important and will try to do everything we do during our training sessions,” he said when asked about whether these rotations will change the team’s playing style.
Defender Dani Carvajal did not train with the squad this Friday, something which will keep him out of this match. However, he isn’t injured, so Carvajal might be ready and fresh enough to face Sevilla next Wednesday.
“He has a small issue and won’t be available tomorrow, we will try our best to have him ready to play against Sevilla,” explained the coach.
Keylor Navas made his return to the starting lineup last Wednesday and Lopetegui still refuses to reveal his plans for the goalkeepers.
“Both of them are training very well and it’s all very natural. Everything is more simple than what you guys think from the outside,” concluded Lopetegui.
