Real Madrid president Florentino Perez talked about La Liga’s plan to play one game of the 2018-19 season in the United States. So far, it seems that this match will be Girona-Barcelona, even though the Spanish Football Federation seems to be against this idea, just like Florentino Perez.

“We won’t go to the United States. I don’t know who’s interested in this, but certainly not the fans and the clubs. That’s why we are strongly against it,” said Perez to the club members.

Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui also revealed that he doesn’t want that Girona-Barcelona to take place in the States.

“I’m not in favor of it happening. It doesn’t benefit equality in this competition as every team should and must play in the same fields throughout the season,” explained the coach weeks ago.

Right now, it seems that there will be big controversy around this match. While it could help La Liga and Spanish teams alike financially, it’s also true that Girona should not play one less home game this season.
