Update from Real Madrid: The club published a new medical report confirming that Isco’s surgery was successful.
Real Madrid published that midfielder Isco Alarcon has been diagnosed with an Appendicitis and will need to have surgery later today.
Isco did not train with the squad today and will obviously miss Wednesday’s away match against Sevilla and also Saturday’s Madrid Derby against Atletico de Madrid. It seems clear that Marco Asensio will now start with Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema upfront, so Casemiro, Modric and Kroos will be the ones playing in the midfield.
Isco was in great form and scored against Athletic Bilbao and also against Roma. While this is a minor surgery, he will need some time to get in good shape after he recovers from it, so this could affect his good momentum. He’s a crucial player for Lopetegui and he could most likely return to the starting lineup once he’s completely ready to play, depending on whether Asensio takes advantage of his absence or not.
