Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal completed Thursday’s training session with the rest of the squad and appears to be ready to face Atletico de Madrid in a crucial Madrid Derby this Saturday. The Spanish right-back picked up an injury during Real’s Champions League opener against Roma and had to miss the trip to Sevilla this past Wednesday.
This is massive for Real Madrid as Marcelo will need to miss the game with the calf injury he sustained on Wednesday. That means that Nacho will have to play on the left wing and he was the one starting in Carvajal’s spot last Wednesday, so if he’s finally ready to play Lopetegui will not need as much depth to face Atletico.
Real Madrid need to regain some confidence and momentum after the discouraging 3-0 loss they suffered against Sevilla this Wednesday. So far, Lopetegui’s men have shown that they can beat small teams, but it’s now time for them to prove they can also take care of business against the best teams in La Liga.
