Juventus vice-president and legend Pavel Nedved talked about how his club managed to sign former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo this past summer.
“Our director of football once said we could buy Ronaldo. We knew about his release clause dropping to €100 million, so he became a much more realistic target. We had a meeting with our president where he studied the deal and finally gave his approval,” said Nedved to Football Italia. “It was the right decision, we want to win the Champions League, so it was the right decision,” he added.
“It was easy to sign him given the fact that he wanted to join us because he wanted to leave Madrid. He chose our club and it’s a privilege to have him with us. He found a way to succeed in England and Spain and we’ll be happy if we can do the same here. We will give it all,” concluded Nedved.
Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid to join Juventus for €100 million. The Portuguese became a Madrd legend after breaking almost every record in the Spanish capital for the past nine seasons.
