Borja Mayoral started for Levante against Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey this evening. The first leg took place in the Ciutat de Valencia which has not been a happy hunting ground for the blaugrana’s in recent years. Tonight would be no different, and the former Canterano would revel in his goal:
After the match, Borja could not contain his joy, “To score against Barca is always special. I am a Madridista and I am always wanting more,” he commented to reporters in the press zone. He then was asked about a potential return to Real Madrid: “I don’t think about my return to Real Madrid right now. I’m on a loan spell at Levante and don’t think beyond that”.
The past 6 months at Levante have been up and down for young Borja Mayoral. The striker has been in and out of the starting line-up and has mustered 3 goals from 530 minutes. Of the 14 matches he has played for Levante this season, 6 have been as a starter and 8 have been substitute appearances from the bench. His goal against Barcelona will certainly inject more confidence into his game and hopefully will be the start to a better run of form and extended run in the Levante team.
