Jesus Vallejo cannot catch a break. The young Spaniard pulled up in training today with what appears to be yet another muscle injury. In the next few hours, a full diagnosis should be performed and the length of time out will be assessed. According to a report from Marca, the player left the pitch crying, while Solari tried to console him. This is Vallejo’s fourth muscle injury this season alone. He has only played two games — against CSKA and against Melilla in the Copa Del Rey. Vallejo was expected to be a part of the starting XI to face Leganes this Wednesday, in another bid to gain fitness and momentum heading into the second half of the season.

The 21 year old has only played 14 games in total for Madrid. There is no doubt his tears reflected the worry that his Madrid career could be over before it even starts. As frustrating as it is for fans, one has to feel for the player. He now adds to a lengthy injury list which includes Marcos Llorente, Toni Kroos, Gareth Bale, Thibaut Courtois, Marco Asensio, and Mariano Diaz. The games come thick in fast in January and Solari will need as many players at his disposal as possible.
