Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari talked to the press after the match against Leganes and revealed that Benzema might be able to feature in the team’s starting lineup when Los Blancos host Sevilla this Saturday.
“We’re hoping that he can be with us this weekend. We need him and we hope he can be available this weekend, next Wednesday and for our next games as well,” said Solari. Benzema has a fracture on his right pinky and even though he could require surgery he might be able to play wearing a cast.
Solari also discussed the performance by his team. Real Madrid lost the game 1-0 but managed to advance to the next round because of their 3-0 win at the Bernabeu.
“It was a poor game, especially during the first half. Some of the players needed minutes and they got them. We advance to the next round but our game was poor,” explained the coach.
Real Madrid have been experimenting with their lineups using Marcelo as an attacking winger with Reguilon playing behind.
“Some times we try things and when they are not working we have to make them right. We lacked depth and not having a pure striker cost us,” concluded Solari.
