Modric wants to sign extension at Real Madrid

Luka Modric had some interesting things to say after Real’s win over Sevilla on Saturday regarding his stay at the club.

“I have a year and a half left on my contract and I am calm, as that’s a long time.”

“My desire is to stay here for more time. I am as happy as I was on the first day.”

Well, at least for now, Modric appears to be confirming his interest in staying at Real Madrid. As well know, he has been consistently linked to Inter, with the biggest rumors coming in the past summer window.

Needless to say, a move for Modric did not go through and it does not appear he is leaving anytime soon.

I didn’t give much credence to the Inter rumors in the first place, that position seems to be solidified that he will be staying. So, perhaps some of the panic of Luka potentially leaving the club in the near future can be calmed a bit now.

Solari isn’t giving up on Real Madrid’s league chances

Santiago Solari was interviewed after the Sevilla win and gave his thoughts on Real Madrid’s positioning.

“We are fighting in three competitions until the last, as always.”

“For Real Madrid, nothing is impossible. I always enjoy football and the competition, it is our passion and we love it despite the tough times.

“We are passionate about competing and obviously it is better to win, no one can deny that.”

Being 10 points back, obviously the title chances in the league are far-fetched. But there is a certain point here, it’s not completely ruled out until the club is mathematically eliminated from winning LaLiga.

Given how poorly the club has played this season and all the major injuries they’ve sustained, being in third is certainly a bit of a surprise. It most certainly could be worse.

They are also still involved in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, which gives them a chance to get some hardware this season besides the Club World Cup. They can certainly focus more intensively on these competitions if they don’t believe in a LaLiga trophy again this season.

At least publicly, Solari isn’t conceding defeat in any of these competitions.

Neymar shoots down rumors of move away from PSG

Neymar was interviewed by Canal Plus recently where he was asked about the transfer rumors that have him leaving Paris.

“There is always speculation about me.”

“Ever since I became a professional footballer, there has always been speculation that I would quit other clubs. But, there is nothing concrete. As soon as there is something definitive, be reassured, I will tell everyone.”

Obviously, this does involve Real Madrid and Barcelona since these are the two clubs Neymar has been linked to should he leave PSG already. It was Real Madrid he was rumored to in the summer and early on in the season. Now more recently, he has been rumored to go back to Barcelona.

It doesn’t seem like there has been as many rumors circling Neymar moving to Madrid as of late. The big push has now been for Hazard to join Real over the next summer window. It fuels the Hazard links even more when he basically acknowledges them almost weekly now.

There’s nothing ‘concrete’ about the Hazard rumors either until Real actually makes an offer, but that move seems more likely than one for Neymar at this point.
